Description:
The Housing Justice project is a collaboration between Faculty from UBC and community organizations with the aim to remove barriers and increase access to affordable, safe and adequate housing for the very low income, and for the working people of modest incomes in Vancouver. The Faculty from UBC are Dr. Penny Gurstein, director of UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning, and Margot Young, associate professor of Law at UBC, who are working with community organizations such as Canadian Rental Housing Coalition, Pivot Legal Society, and the Housing Matters Media Project. This project has 3 interacting strands – public engagement, policy development, and legal rights advocacy.

How to get involved: General Public can provide input to the Housing Justice Project online at PlaceSpeak.com . If you have experience in Vancouver’s rental housing market, have ideas on creating affordable housing and would like to be more involved, for ongoing opportunities, contact Penny Gurstein (penny.gurstein@ubc.ca) and Margot Young (myoung@law.ubc.ca)
