Description:

The VSSL is a volunteer organization which empowers people suffering from or at risk of homelessness, addiction and mental illness through the power of sport and the community it fosters. VSSL addresses these challenges through inclusivity and soccer with the belief that it can enhance all lives through fair play, community building, fitness development and supportive partnerships.

VSSL holds regular practices 2-3 times weekly, and has a separate women’s practice in partnership with Atira Women’s Resource Society. It also holds community games and tournaments and participates in regional street soccer tournaments. Its other community partnerships include Covenant House and Central Shelter. As well, many players come from Portland Hotel Society.
